June 6, 2012, New York City. Ben Rayner, Director of Content for iThentic, was invited to speak at BlogWorld in New York City. BlogWorld & New Media Expo is an annual conference where Bloggers, Podcasters and Web TV content creators speak and network with the most successful New Media content creators from around the world. BlogWorld connects industry peers attending from 50 countries for 3 days of educational sessions (over 140, in fact) presented by more than 175 industry leaders.
Ben was fortunate enough to meet with an extensive list of industry peers, leaders and influencers at BlogWorld. The conference was a great facilitator of informative talks, inspiring discussion panels, as well as including a sellers and buyers promotional Expo-Floor.
iThentic was represented in Ben’s role as a panelist in the forum discussion ‘What’s My Web Series Distribution Plan’. The panel was focused on where content creators find their audience and which distribution platforms best reach this audience. Navigating the many different existing distribution platforms was a hot topic at the conference, so it was no surprise that this discussion was well attended. Ben was joined on the panel by Jorge Rivera (the Creative Executive, Screenwriter and Producer of ValDean Entertainment), Tim Street (VP Mobile Video of mDialog), and Chase Norlin (CEO of Alphabird).
Ben also moderated the Panel on ‘Strategic Partnership for Web Series’. The panel consisted of Brandan Martinez (Co-Founder/CEO of INMUSIC) and Rob Barnett (Founder/CEO My Damn Channel), who discussed how content creators achieve success. They emphasized that successful content does not reinvent the wheel, but rather find partners in content creators, brands, or distribution companies that have already proven themselves successful. Relevant connections with web series’ that have an established fan base or with brands that understand how to engage with their customers are just a few strategic partnerships content creators should thinking about for their projects.
Overall, BlogWorld is a great opportunity to come face to face with the growing number and variety of successful content creators on the web, especially as different modes of content crossover with the popularity of transmedia properties.
